MTK and most of its member unions and associations have their 100th anniversary in 2017. We celebrate our anniversary by sharing growth stories about rural entrepreneurs and their lives. We invite not only our members but all Finns to join the celebrations. The MTK 100 programme is part of the Finland 100 centennial programme.

Finnish countryside, food production and forestry have always played an important role in the history of independent Finland. Together they tell a story of strong growth. In the countryside, the miracle of growth takes place every year and new innovations, on the other hand, generate future growth.

The aim of the festive year is to reinforce professional pride in our rural livelihoods.  The festive year gathers the various levels and members of the organisation together to relate agricultural and forestry entrepreneurs’ stories of growth and development from the Finnish countryside. Together we will organise events and other programme around Finland.

The programme of the MTK 100 festive year invites everyone to participate. The year includes programmes related to consumer work with regard to rural livelihoods, the supervision of interests, research, and rural culture and education. The MTK 100 Years of Growth programme is part of the Finland 100 centennial programme. In addition, the Finland 100 projects organised by the food and forest industry together – Syödään yhdessä [Let’s Eat Together], the Bioaika roadshow and Tulevaisuuden Kuusi [Spruce for the Future] – are interwoven with the national MTK 100 programme.

The wide range of programmes in the MTK 100 festive year allows every member and every Finn to pick their favourites. The year will include programmes related to consumer work concerning rural livelihoods, supervision of interests, research, and rural culture, art and education.
